Press Statement by REHDA on Bukit Antara Landslide Tragedy

6 December 2008, Petaling Jaya

REHDA Malaysia shares in the grief loss and the suffering caused by the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide tragic incident on 6 December 2008.

REHDA President Datuk Ng Seing Liong, J.P. said, “ While there must be a need to determine the cause of this unfortunate event and also of parties that were responsible, all efforts must now centre on rescuing those trapped and attending to the families of those who have lost loved ones and need of help, shelter and comfort”.

Datuk Ng added that REHDA stands ready to assist in whichever way possible in present calamity. “Members have already sent in special assistance teams and equipment to help in the rescue efforts.” Datuk Ng said.

REHDA proposes that a Special Task Force be set up to look into the causes that have led to this calamity.
