Property Developers Welcome Government’s Decision To Allow Hillside Projects
Real Estate and Housing Developers Association Malaysia (REHDA) welcomes the announcement by the Minister of Works that development of hillside projects will continue to be allowed and there will be no blanket ban on such projects.
REHDA President, Datuk Ng Seing Liong, JP, said that the Government’s decision to allow hillside projects is a move in the right direction. He further urged all State Governments, especially Selangor to lift blanket bans on hillside developments. “Hillslope development can be carried out safely in this country as Malaysia has the pool of experts to design, monitor and undertake the necessary research” he said.
In the longer term, a comprehensive hillside master plan will promote transparency and provides the industry and the public adequate information on all hillside development.
Meanwhile, REHDA also expressed hope that the announcement by the Minister of Works will clear any confusion on whether there is currently any blanket freeze of hillside development to unable the industry to move forward and continue to generate domestic demand for the country.
